Ed's Adventure With CBD Oil

I mentioned in an earlier post entitled "Meds" that I'd decided to cease trying to find a medical solution for dealing with my tics. Not long after, someone who I'm not inclined to brush off without a second thought procured some CBD oil for me. I say "procured" like it's something shady, but it's not. Stuff is totally legal. It's like the O'Doul's of pot. I said I'd try it for five days to see if anything changed, so I did. I'm sad to report that it didn't do anything for me, though I've seen people on Facebook and Twitter who'd swear on their lives that CBD oil is the only thing that makes living with Tourette's bearable.

It's possible that I was taking too low of a dose or what I was using wasn't concentrated enough, but I sure didn't notice a change. Maybe I just need some of that sweet, sweet THC to take the edge off my TS, I dunno. I happened across a workplace conversation about the legalization of weed yesterday that did a good job of running the gamut of different positions. There was the guy who was like "Legalize now", there was the guy who said "Decriminalize it, but don't legalize it!" (which I guess is a distinction I don't understand?) and the guy who was like, "Keep it illegal forever and fill up all the prisons with pot users who are also probably Democrats so they can't vote!" ...he didn't actually verbalize that last part, but I heard it. Oh, I heard it. I tried going at him with the libertarian view of "What right does the government have to say what I put in my body?", which is what I actually believe anyway, but he wasn't buying it. Then I went in on medical uses, and his actual view was that society shouldn't have to be riddled with drug users just so a few people can reap the "dubious" medical benefits of legal pot. I'm reminded again of the complete lack of sympathy some people can have for other people who have chronic medical conditions purely as a result of bad luck. They're largely the same group of people who dismissed the Affordable Care Act as a socialist ploy to create a permanent welfare state, a cash grab by health insurance companies allied with President Obama, or a little from bucket A and a little from bucket B. The thing about compassion and empathy I wish more people understood is that they literally COST YOU NOTHING.

You can bet that if the great state of Pennsylvania legalized pot tomorrow, I'd be trying darn near everything to get my tics under control while still being a useful member of society. Of all the things I've read online about how to control tics, from meds to oils to meditation, the one thing I've seen users rave about is pot. Your being a prude shouldn't be a barrier keeping me from controlling my chronic neurological condition. Also, my sister in law owns a food truck and my brother in law runs a sub shop, and I want them both to be filthy rich. Lord knows a state full of people with munchies would help.
